QSI 583 WS with baader planetarium 7nm HA filter

during a 1 week astrophotography holiday in southern france i did some more testing with the QSI 583 WS and baader planetarium 7nm Ha filter.

on this photo i did 2×20 minuts chip was cooled down to -10 degrees celcius. ( lens was 70-200 2.8 IS L from canon on 200mm f2.8)
on the photo you see the gamma cygni region.( butterfly nebula near the star Sadr )

First light with the QSI 583 WS

i already had a few days to play with the camera, to know how the filterwheel works, how to take exposures etc.
tonight i had the chance to photograph a part of cynnus.

i photographed it from my normal holiday location in south limburg in holland.

ive used 5×10minute exposure with the canon 70-200 2,8 IS on 135mm and baader 7nm Ha filter
the chip was cooled to -10 and there were no dark frames used.

asa ddm 85 #2

After all the shitty damages, bad service etc from asa here a first pic.
after a 10 star pointing file i did a 10 minute unguided exposure with the vixen r200ss( 8” F4 ,800mm ) ( still out of collimation )
M51 has been cropped, photo is made on iso 1600 with eos 40D

First shot after accident in france

at the end of march 2009, i was in french for a astro trip.
on a morning my losmandy G-11 + vixen R200SS and guidescope were blown to the ground by the wind.

i still can’t photograph with the r200SS because i need to order a new set of OTA rings.

friday 29th of may, i was photographing with my eos 40D + 70-200 2,8 IS on 70mm F4,5 to NGC 7000 ( north america nebula )
ive captured 2 hours and 16 minuts in 4minut sub exposure stacked in DeepSky Stacker.

Autoguiding, first attempt

yesterday night i was finaly ready to try my autoguider, the QHY5 from  QHYccd.
ive made an ST 4 cable myself, and i already got a splitter to split up the RJ12 connection from the losmandy controlpanel.

i had to manage a 300second ( 5 minute( ISO 1000 with 40D ) ) exposure of Mizar and Alcor, the Double star in the Big dipper,
i have made a crop of the left upper corner of the photograph to show that there is almost no movement in the stars, and the Baader MPCC is doing a great job !

40D

Yesterday i bought an canon eos 40D.
the 350D had an connection problem with USB ( canon says, use a new usb cable and it works, right )

now i want to use the 40D for astrophotography, in a few weeks/months i want to modify it.
a clear filter instead of the canon filter that is in front of the CMOS chip.

Coma test R200SS

Well, normaly you take a picture good in focus to see youre coma.
i tried during an exposure to focus in and out, so that the image… will be ruined.
this came out to my surprise, you can easily see how much coma the vixen has.

photo made with eos 350D+vixen r200ss,on losmandy g-11
30seconds on ISO 800.
